A fan of Jes Fan!

One artist that has really grabbed me is Jes Fan. 

I love his work and the thought that goes into each piece.

Fan has an incredible interest in materials as molecules and uses substances such as hormones, melanin, silicone and soap in his work.

He uses these materials to illustrate his  feelings and concerns about politics and transgender identities.

In his work Mother is a Woman, 2018 Fan creates a a lotion with estrogen extracted from their mother’s urine and in his latest piece he constructs a frame from pipes and hangs glass bubbles on it which contain bodily fluids such as Melanin, sperm, urine and blood. These liquids are injected into silicone and their reaction and movement in this clear fluid create a beautiful visual.
