It's been....emotional.

Throughout the whole process I have explored my inner emotions related to the global pandemic and living through lockdown. I have listened to the struggles of fellow parents as they battled the effect of lockdown on their families. I witnessed the global phenomenon of rainbows representing hope, and the fading of these rainbows in the windows of my neighbours. I am proud of how my final piece brings together these contemporary stories to tell the one that no-one tells. The one about the pressure felt to pretend everything is fine.

I am planning to show this piece in a private exhibition of my own, inviting visitors to walk up close to the piece and see all the details that a video link can’t show. I will be writing an article on this my concept and contact local papers and BBC Essex to advertise the event and show my work.

I would never have thought that when I first started this course, that I would create something like this piece. Before this Contemporary Art and Design course, I was drawing pet portraits and watercolours of tigers, now I’m building 2 metre square spaces with enormous orifices spewing out rainbows!

This art course has been such an experience, I have learnt so much and met some incredible people, seen some amazing art and had lots of fun, I will leave these three years more confident in my abilities and stronger in my views.

It’s been wicked.
